Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to reinstate local government autonomy in the State.

The Governor stated this during the ongoing ministerial briefing, which organised to have an interface with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, in order to cross-fertilize ideas on how to move the State to greater heights.

According to the Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Local Government needs to be granted autonomy as it is the grassroots government through which the people get the dividends of democracy.

He said Granting autonomy to local government is in accordance with the principles of federalism.

The Governor observed that over the years, the political class has crippled the entire local government administration, thereby rendering it inconsequential and making it anti-progressive.

Earlier in an address, the Coordinating Director, Local Government Service Commission, Mr, Lekan Babalola, had appreciated the Governor for yielding to the yearnings of the people of the State through his readiness to grant autonomy to the local government, noting that the step would go a long way in accelerating development in all the nooks and crannies of the State.
