With just few days to the much awaited 2023 elections, Nigerians have been advised to be prayerful, peaceful and patient before the day of the election and as they go to the polls.

This advice is coming against the backdrop of the hardship and pains being experienced by Nigerians at a time like this in the nation’s history on account of fuel and Naira scarcity which is having grave economic consequences on citizens.

The Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, the Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa stated this in a release to the nation titled “keep the peace; do not lose heart”.

While speaking with Premier FM on the release, Most Reverend Akinfenwa acknowledged the trauma experienced by Nigerians in the past few weeks and expressed disappointment that no solution had come the way of Nigerians to ease their pains.

He commended Nigerians for their resilience and appealed to all to remain calm in the face of all provocations, urging everyone to shun violence and all that could stall the forth coming elections but rather insist on peaceful change and democratic transition according to civilized norms.

Most Reverend Akinfenwa quoting from Acts Chapter 2:44-47 challenged Nigerians to be their brothers’ keeper by sharing from the little they have.

According to him, this was the time to bond together in love across ethnic and religious boundaries, stressing that if Nigerians do what is right and godly, this painful process will give birth to a better nation.
