In Osun State, journalists were this morning refused entrance into the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Osogbo to observe the collection of sensitive election materials by election stakeholders.

The journalists who had converged on the premises of the CBN in the company of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke and representatives were stopped by security men attached to the bank who said they were acting on orders from above.

This development provoked the reaction of the Osun REC, Dr Mutiu Agboke who addressed the Bank’s senior officials and insisted that the matter had earlier been resolved at a security meeting preceding the events.

Despite the argument put up by the REC, a senior official of the CBN, Mrs Oluyemi Adeyemi refused that journalists be allowed to cover the collection of the materials.

The chairman of one of the Political parties simply identified himself as Prince Bello and condemned the conduct of the CBN officials and security men.
