Effective sensitization and increased enlightenment are essential ingredients to encourage active participation of eligible voters in the electoral process.

The Ogun State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr Christopher Obadina stated this in Abeokuta while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the importance of voter education towards achieving peaceful exercise.

Describing the involvement of Nigerians, especially those who had attained voting age in the electoral process as their civil duties, Mr Obadina said NOA had embarked on massive enlightenment campaigns on the proper conduct of voters during the polls.

He noted that the agency had deployed officers to every nook and cranny to educate the eligible voters on the need to come out in large numbers to elect the leaders of their choice.

Mr Obadina appealed to Nigerians particularly residents of the state to shun acts capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Also, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Ogun State, Mr Emmanuel Bankole who commended various initiatives put in place for voter education said there was still a need for improvement, especially in reaching out to the people in the rural areas.

Mr Bankole said NLC had devised means to educate Nigerians on the need to be involved in the electoral process to promote good governance in the country.
