A former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has won the Ogun East Senatorial election held on Saturday.

Daniel, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress scored 115,147 votes to defeat other candidates in the contest for the National Assembly seat. 

The official results were announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Onwuka, at the Ogun East Senatorial Collation Centre in Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode.

However, in Cross River, Governor Ben Ayade’s senatorial ambition hit the rock as he was defeated by Senator Jarigbe

Senator Jarigbe garnered 76,145 while Governor Ben Ayade polled 56, 595 votes in the exercise.

 Declaring Sen. Jarigbe the winner of the Senatorial election in the early hours of Monday, 27th, 2023,  the  returning officer, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe who spoke on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC commended stakeholders for their peaceful conduct

Emanghe also lauded all security agents for giving the needed security support which invariably led to a successful and credible election.
