Ogun State Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the concluded governorship, Dr. Ladipupo Adebutu has led protesters to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Ogun state governorship candidate and the protesters were however dispersed with gunshots by the security personnel guarding the INEC office.

Hundreds of members of the PDP had stormed the INEC office to submit a petition, demanding a re-run election at polling units where elections were cancelled during the poll.

The protesters with placards carrying inscriptions such as: “INEC should save our democracy”, “INEC betrayed the people of Ogun”, “Electoral fraud will not stand” and INEC should respect people’s wish”, among others were also chanting songs to drive home their demands.

Dr. Adebutu while speaking with newsmen said the protesters would not leave until INEC officials attend to them.

He stressed that the party had submitted several protest letters to the commission demanding the review of the results of Saturday’s election and re-run where the elections were either cancelled or disrupted.
