Easter Monday: Churches Organize Picnics for Members, Others Visit Relaxation Spots

By Dayo Adu/Lillian Ibomor

Some relaxation spots in Ibadan have experienced a low turnout of fun seekers as most residents enjoyed the Easter Monday holiday declared by the Federal government with their families.

Radio Nigeria correspondents who visited some of the fun spots in the metropolis observed that some churches organized picnics for their members.

At the popular shopping malls at Ring-Road and Dugbe areas of Ibadan, a few fun seekers were seen enjoying themselves in continuation of the Easter celebration.

Our correspondents report that, the fun seekers with their children were seen enjoying facilities such as horse rides, and a bouncing castle.

Some of the fun seekers said they decided to relax with their families despite the various challenges confronting the country.

At the Agodi Gardens Ibadan, parents and children were seen serving food and drinks to entertain their loved ones while others were taking pictures.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria General Manager, Agodi Gardens  Yusuf Ibrahim said the turn-out was low.

At the premises of the Cathedral of Saint James the Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan, members of the church gathered to reflect on the scriptural practice of meeting Jesus at Galilee as they engaged in a variety of games and performances to spice up the day.

Assistant Priest of the Church, Venerable Abiodun Ayegbusi who spoke on the essence of Easter Monday, noted that the avenue served as a reunion for Christians.

Meanwhile, traffic was light as few vehicles were seen on the ever-busy Alesinloye junction, Sango, Apata and Challenge areas of the Ibadan metropolis.
