Ogun State government has sealed a five-storey structure belonging to a religious organization, Love World Church along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Asese as part of efforts to protect lives and property after a partial collapse occurred.

The Acting General Manager, Ogun State Building Production Management Authority, Mr Olakunle Olaniran carried out the sealing after a joint inspection by officers of the authority and Ogun State Planning Development Permits Authority.

Mr Olaniran, who explained that enforcement notices had been served, pointed out that the structure had been cordoned off with caution tape to restrict movement around the building.

 He noted that the building contravened both the planning and building regulations of the state, adding that construction works would not continue at the site until the owner perfects the documentation required by the Ministry.

 Speaking to the incident, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Olatunji Odunlami, who noted the partial collapse of the structure was avoidable, appealed to citizens of the state to always obtain necessary permits before embarking on any construction work.

Mr Odunlami stressed the need for people to ensure the use of professionals to erect their structures.
