General officer commanding, 2 division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Muhammed Usman, has urged officers and men of the command to utilize all acquired skills and training to better their performance while discharging their duties.

Major General Usman made this call while declaring open a day workshop on fire prevention and management in the Nigerian Army, held at Adekunle Fajuyi cantonment, Odogbo barracks, Ibadan.

The GOC, who spoke through Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi, said the workshop on efficient fire prevention skills became imperative for the safety of Nigerian Army personnel and assets.

Major General Usman, therefore urged all participants, who were drawn from all the formations and units of 2 division, to pay rapt attention during the workshop and pass on the knowledge acquired to their colleagues.

Earlier, the team leader of the workshop, who is the director, supply and transport service, Army headquarters, Abuja, Brigadier General Bamidele Ogunbunmi, noted that the seminar was aimed at sensitizing the personnel on how to prevent fire incidences at war fronts, as well as at home and offices.

One of the lecturers at the seminar, a director at federal fire service Oyo state, Mr. Adeyinka Ajakaye, in his lecture titled “fire prevention and management energy awareness explained that in order to successfully combat fire incidences at all time, people must ascertain the source, affected items and also have sufficient skills on how to quench the fire.

Mr. Ajakaye, therefore warned people to ensure that they guide against anything that will lead to fire incidence in their surroundings in order not to fall victim to the havoc.
