Ogun State Government has advocated the need for a collective action towards addressing the negative impact of plastic pollution in country.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr Rasak Ojetola made the call in Abeokuta to commemorate the world environment day.

Mr Ojetola said the state government had encouraged the establishment and licencing of Recycling Centres statewide as well as regulating the activities of Recycling Plants as part of the ways of finding solutions to plastic pollution in the state.

He called on all the Recycling Centres and Industries operating in the state to continue to imbibe global best practices noting the state government would not tolerate dereliction of duties which may lead to plastic pollution.

Mr Ojetola appealed to residents of the state to continue to reduce, reuse and recycle their plastic wastes to enable the state to have credible solutions to plastic pollution in compliance with the theme of 2023 World Environment Day.
