Osun State Government says the Imole Train services for the Eid-El-Kabir festival will not hold due to a train accident around Abeokuta-Lagos old gauge line.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Cooperatives, and Empowerment, Mrs. Kehinde Odediran indicates that the accident affected part of the train track, halting any train movement on the Lagos-Abeokuta line.

Mrs. Odediran said Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has commenced repair and rehabilitation work for the damaged part of the track but confirmed that the free service cannot be accommodated.

The statement adds that as soon as the technical hitches get rectified, normal services will resume accordingly, in line with the ideals of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s annual Imole free train service.
