The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress , APC, Abdullahi Adamu, has reportedly resigned from his position.

Reports says that Mr Adamu resigned on Sunday night.

He had also told the newsmen that he would not speak on his purported resignation until President Bola Tinubu returned from Kenya where the president is attending the Fifth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.

“I won’t talk about the issue because the president is away,” Mr Adamu was quoted as saying.

However, it was reported Monday morning that the APC chairman submitted his letter of resignation to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the president.

When contacted, APC spokesperson Felix Morka did not confirm nor deny the report.

Mr Adamu was a senator representing Nasarawa West before his emergence as the national chairman of the ruling party last year.He also served as the Nasarawa State governor between 1999 and 2007.

In the meantime, Senator Abdullahi Adamu was absent as members of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, National Working Committee (NWC) met in Abuja on Monday.

The APC NWC meeting, held at the party secretariat in Abuja, was presided over by the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Abubakar Kyari.

The APC NWC meeting and Adamu’s absence come amid his reported resignation and unfolding crisis within the ruling party.

Senator Adamu is said to have resigned along with the National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Some sources within the party said if Senator Adamu does not resign, a vote of no confidence would be passed on him and forced out.
