Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, has screened and confirmed nine additional commissioner designates for the State
They are Mr Abiodun Akinkonmo, Mr Segun Olayiwola, Hon Wasiu Olatubosun, Professor Abdulwaheed Soliu, Mr Majeed Mogbojunbola, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Mr Williams Akinfunmilayo, Prince Dotun Oyelade and Mr Obafemi Ademola Ojo
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had last week forwarded a list of commissioner nominees, requesting screening and approval of the state assembly.
At the plenary presided over by the speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, the commissioner designates took turn to intimate the assembly on their political career, educational background and their plans of action for the State.
Two of the lawmakers, Mr Bamidele Adeola, Mr Gabriel Babajide challenged the nominees to prioritize the interest of the State especially at the local government level
After fielding questions from the lawmakers, the commissioner designates were asked to take a bow
In another development, the assembly frowned at the recurrence of kidnapping in Kajola Local Government area of Oyo State calling on the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State and other Security Agencies to urgently secure the release of a medical practitioner, Dr. D.O Lawal and one Miss Kafilat who were kidnapped along Okeho on Sunday, 23rd July, 2023
This followed a matter of urgent public importance on the need to restrain act of insecurity brought to the house by the lawmaker representing the council, Mr Musbau Azeez.
The House also urged the Executive Arm of Government through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to put necessary machinery in place for the installation of CCTV cameras, security light and other gadgets in strategic locations in the State, to expose or identify faces of criminals in the State.
