Nigeria’s D’Tigress have won the 2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament held in Kigali, Rwanda.

They defeated Senegal 83-74 to win the trophy for the fourth time in a row.

Nigeria has now won the African continent’s women’s basketball championship for the sixth time.

Their previous titles came in 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, and 2021, making them one of the tournament’s most decorated teams.

Meanwhile, African Champions Bayana Bayana of South Africa have crashed out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup ongoing in New Zealand and Australia.

The Bayana Bayana were defeated 2 nil by the Netherlands in their round of 16 clash on Sunday morning.

Goals in the 9th and 68th minutes by Jill Roord and Lineth Beerensteyn were enough to secure a quarter final slot for the Netherlands.
