Ogun State government has issued a five day ultimatum for traders who are in the habit of displaying goods on the roadsides and walkways.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr Rasaq Ojetola, who announced this during a sensitisation to some markets in the state capital, said the traders have up till next Monday to desist from such unwholesome act.

Mr Ojetola pointed out that the government would have no choice but to prosecute defiant traders after the expiration of the notices.

Also, the Deputy Director, Environmental Health Management in the Ministry, Mrs. Busurat Owodunni, and her team, who were at Olomore T-junction and Lafenwa markets said engaging in roadside, and walkway trading was against the Environment Miscellaneous Law 2004, warning that anyone found culpable would be charged to court.

In their separate reactions, the Iyaloja of Olomore T-junction, Mrs. Mutiat Obaleye, and the Treasurer Environmental Sanitation, Lafenwa market, Mrs. Habibat Bamiduro, appealed to government to build more stalls and shops for the traders to occupy.
