Osun State government through its palliative committee in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties will begin the distribution of the subsidized rice palliative. 

A  statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, the mode of sharing has been finalized by the committee, and that the distribution begins on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

According to the statement, the total number of subsidized rice palliatives to be distributed is 5,700 out of which three thousand of 50kg rice is from the first batch of palliatives, and Two thousand seven hundred 50kg bags of rice from the 14,000 second batch.

The distribution of the palliative to beneficiaries will commence immediately after the Palliative Committee meets tomorrow morning.  

It urges the beneficiaries to be orderly, assuring everyone that the palliatives given to the state by the Federal government will get to the beneficiaries across the state.

Similarly, the Osun State government says it has received 2 billion naira out of the 5-billion naira palliative money earmarked for the state by the Federal government.

The statement adds that the template and modalities of payment will be made by the Palliative Committee during its meeting.

Recall that the state received 3,000 50kg bags of rice from the federal government, and 2,700 50kg bags of rice out of the 14,000 bags approved for the second batch, while the state is still expecting 11,300 50kg bags of rice and 3,000 metric tons of maize.
