OSHA Charges Media on Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

The need for Media Organisations to be conscious of the content sent to the Public in other to promote peace in the society has again been emphasized. 

The Chairman House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Adekunle Oladimeji made the call during a meeting with Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment led by the Commissioner, Barrister Kolapo Alimi held at the Assembly Complex, Osogbo.

Mr. Oladimeji who said sensitive public related issues should be handled Professionally emphasized that media houses must be seen championing advocacy on peace and avoid aggravating conflicts capable of causing crisis.

In his submission, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Barrister Kola Alimi reeled out the activities of the ministry in the area of promoting efficiently the policies and programmes of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Barrister Alimi noted that the ministry is doing its best in the aspect of keeping image of the state safe by saying, the efforts of the ministry in taming the communal clashes between Ilobu and Ifon Osun cannot be overemphasized.

Corroborating his submission, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information, Mrs Abimbola Babatunde listed number of pressing challenges facing the ministry to include obsolete equipment, Inadequate personnel and lack of patronage of the MDAs amongst others.
