The Osun State Local Government Areas Creation and Administration Amendment No 6 Bill 2023 and Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission Establishment Amendment No3 Bill 2023 had scaled through their Second Reading at the floor of The State House of Assembly.

Member Representing Ede North and the Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Kofoworola Adewunmi and Member Representing Ila, Mr.Sikiru Bajepade moved the motion for the second passage of Osun State Local Government Areas Creation and Administration Amendment No.6 Bill 2023.

Also, the Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission Establishment Amendment No3 Bill 2023 scaled its Second Reading as adopted by Member Representing Ede North, Mr. Kofoworola Adewunmi and seconded by Member Representing, Ife-East, Mr. Saheed Fatunmise during plenary held at the State Assembly Complex, Osogbo.

While Stating the Policy Thrust of The Osun State Local Government Areas Creation and Administration Amendment No 6 Bill 2023, the Majority Leader, Mr. Kofoworola Adewunmi said the Bill recommends that Ede North Area Council be upgraded to Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs to accommodate Residents in Owode – Ede communities, whom seemed to be marginalized from benefits from Government.

Mr. Adewunmi explained that the Population of Residents in communities under Owode – Ede Town had increased, hence the need to create a Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs for the area to enable them benefit from Government Policies and Intervention.

In his opinion, Member Representing,Ife Central, Mr. Abiola Awoyeye emphasized the need to get the required fact and figures of the occupants of the Community.

In separate remarks, Members Representing Obokun, Ifelodun,Olorunda and Ola – Oluwa, Mr. Adeyemi Adewunmi, Mr. Tajudeen Adeyemi, Mr, Olaide Ajibola and Mr. Afeez Ibrahim respectively, called for the accelerated passage of the Bill.

Meanwhile, During the Policy Thrust of Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission Establishment Amendment No 3, Bill 2023, Member Representing Ilesa West, Mr. Olawale Akerele highlighted the importance including ; to further Strengthen the Administration and Financial Autonomy of the State House of Assembly, Provision for the appointment of a Retired Technocrat for the State House of Assembly Commission, would boost administrative and Financial Autonomy amongst others.

In separate remarks, members Representing Ede South Ifelodun, Ede North, Oriade State Constituencies, Mr, Taofeek Olayiwola, Mr. Tajudeen Adeyemi, Mr. Kofoworola Adewunmi and Barrister Kanmi Ajibola respectively who said the State Assembly should be given Autonomy for smooth running of its activities called for the accelerated passage of the Bill.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Prince Adewale Egbedun noted that series of benefits would be achieved if eventually passed into Law.
