Relevant policies will ensure desired patronage of the nation’s postal service.

Head of Operations, Nigeria Postal Service,  Ibadan Branch , Mr Samuel Babalola stated this  in an interview with Radio Nigeria in commemoration of this year’s World Post Day.

Mr Samuel Babalola, who decried low patronage of the services, explained that potentials of the nation postal offices had not been well harnessed.
He said further that the advancement of technology could complement the existing activities if well utilized.

Mr Babalola enumerated other services of the organisation to include electronic commerce, haulage and logistics, parcel services and registered services.

Mr Babalola added that intervention of the Federal government and other stakeholders were urgently needed at boosting postal services in Nigeria.

Also, the Oyo State Postal Manager, Mrs Funmi Magaji decried the condition of service and dilapidated structure of the nation’s postal centres.

Mrs Magaji, however, stressed the need for Federal government to  urgently permit motorcycles belonging to the organisation to have access to every nook and crannies without restriction in any form.

One of the customers, Mr Tunde Ajayi explained that modern technology has greatly affected the postal services no doubt, but could be harnessed if relevant authorities rose up to their duty.
 
Every 9th of October was set aside throughout the world to call on government, private sector and development partners to create awareness of the Post role in everyday lives of people and economic development of the world.

This year’s celebration has the theme ‘Together for Trust’.
