Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Oyo/Osun area command has reiterated its readiness to end smuggling.

The Area Controller of the command,  Ben Oramalugo who stated this at a news briefing  held at the command headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State,  lamented that Nigeria could not continue to lose lives of people and property to smugglers .

Mr Oramalugo who assumed office on September 18, 2023, explained that with rigorous enforcement measures, over eleven billion naira has been generated into the government coffers within that short period.

He also said six operational Toyota Land cruiser vehicles have been handed over to the command to tackle smuggling.

While appreciating the roles of sister agencies, traditional rulers and customs officers in achieving the feat, the area controller disclosed that contrabands including foreign rice, fuel, foreign used clothes, foreign used tyres, cannabis sativa and arms worth over 51 billion naira have been seized by the command.

Mr Oramalugo further solicited the collaboration of Nigerians in providing useful information to further record more achievement and to protect the nation.
