Alaba Lawson for Burial Dec. 8

A Week-long schedule of activities has been unveiled for the burial of the late renowned entrepreneur and Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, between Friday 1st and 8th December 2023. 

The funeral activities announced to journalists in Abeokuta by the Central Planning Committee included a special service in Lagos by the NACCIMA Business Women Group on the 1st of December as well as a night of tributes by the ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs on the 4th of December. 

The Committee Chairman, Chief Sanya Abiola said a service of songs would be held on Tuesday, 5th by the African Church Nigeria at the St. James’s African Church, Idi -Ape, Abeokuta, while the Association of Egba Traders, the Oke Ona Chiefs, Egba Christian Chiefs and Lawson group of schools would organize different sessions on Wednesday, 6th December in honour of the deceased. 

Chief Abiola explained that the general Christian Wake and Night of Tributes would be held Thursday 7th at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL Abeokuta before the final funeral service at the St James’s African Church, Idi-Ape on Friday 8th December, while the interment programme would be strictly for the family.

The Central Planning Committee Chairman gave the assurance that adequate measures had been put in place for the success of the burial activities for Chief Alaba Lawson adding that the relevant agencies had been put in charge of security and logistics arrangements. 

Chief Alaba Lawson died at her home in Abeokuta on Saturday, 28th October, 2023 at age of 72.
