Kwara State government has expressed determination to invest in all levels of education and make teaching and learning conducive.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made the disclosure while speaking at the 10th and 11th combined convocation ceremony of Kwara State University, KWASU, held at the Mini Convocation Arena of the institution at Malete, in Moro Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, the governor said the university was established to produce graduates that will take their destiny in their own hands.

He advised the graduands to strive to make themselves job creators and not job seekers.

In his address the Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr. Johnson Adewumi appealed to the state government to increase operational support to the institution.

Earlier in his address of welcome, KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Likqman Jimoh said despite various challenges, the university remain the foremost in expanding the frontier of knowledge and innovation.

He urged the state government to urgently intervene on the issues of land encroachment and inadequate hostel accommodation affecting the institution.

A total of 16,315 students graduated in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
