Ogun State Governor,  Prince Dapo Abiodun on Monday, launched the emblem for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Governor Abiodun while receiving the Nigerian Legion, Ogun state Chapter at the executive chamber, state secretariat, Oke Mosan, launched the emblem with the sum of 10 million naira, with a commitment to providing a befitting office building for the Legions.

Governor Abiodun paid tribute to all Nigerian heroes, both deceased and alive, for their sacrifices and selfless service in protecting the integrity, legitimacy, unity, and stability of Nigeria.

While acknowledging the sacrifices of the veterans, the Governor called for continuous support for them and their families adding that one way to show support was by contributing generously to the purchase of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.

Responding to the gesture, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion Ogun State Chapter, Master Warrant Officer Orukotan Olumuyiwa on behalf of the association, commended the State Government for the continuous show of solidarity and concern towards the well-being of the veterans and their dependents.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration AFRDC is an event organized annually to honour the memory of the nation’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice during the first and second world war, the Nigeria civil war, peace support and internal security operations.
