It was an atmosphere of joy, excitement and expression of love at the annual programme organized by Radio Nigeria Premier FM to celebrate the elderly in Oyo state.

The programme tagged “Ike Agba” which has gained prominence over seven years, afforded about one hundred elders in the state to enjoy games, free medical test, food and drinks as well as music entertainment by AJ Sequential Live Band.

Our correspondent reports that special gifts were presented to the best dressed in the male and female categories while prizes were given to winners of other games.

Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan , Mr Dominic Mokikan however used the occasion to advocate better care for the elderly, appealing to government, members of the public and family members to assist and pay them regular visits to make them remain active.

Mr Mokikan also stressed the need for families to employ the services of trained personnel that would always assist the elderly.

Earlier in a welcome address, General Manager, Premier FM, Ibadan, Mr Adedamola Tinubu who appreciated individuals and corporate sponsors of the event said it was put together to allow the senior citizens to unwind and cheer them up.

Some of the elders who could not hide their joy expressed gratitude to Radio Nigeria Premier FM for providing the platform to celebrate the elders.

Speakers on the occasion, including Baale Oluyole, Chief Yemi Ogunyemi, chairman Tikadol Event Centre, Alhaji Kehinde Omotoso, Alhaji Mudashiru Bada and the representative of the Aare Ona kankanfo, Ibaa Gani Adams advised the elders to do what makes them happy.

The event was attended by FRCN Ibadan committee of management and we’ll wishers.
