Report reaching us indicates former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu is dead.
Our correspondent in Akure says the news of the demise of the former governor was confirmed by some government sources, though still awaiting official declaration from the state government.
The governor was flown abroad for treatment over his medical condition in June and returned to Nigeria in September after months overseas but stayed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The late Akeredolu had last month handed over power to the deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, which would be his second medical vacation.
Akeredolu was elected for a second term in office in February 2021, which was, however, stalled ailing health conditions.
The governor was aged 67 at the time of his demise.
