The passengers also bemoaned difficulties in booking the free train ride ticket online.

Speaking with a Radio Nigeria correspondent who monitored the situation at Obafemi Awolowo train station, Moniya, Ibadan, two military personnel who do not want their name mentioned said some passengers who arrived at the station early were only allowed entry into the passenger hall but were not allowed to enter the train.

The officers who said they did not have the ticket due to difficulties experienced in booking the ticket online said the train left them with scanty passengers.

Two passengers, Temitope Rotimi, Omowunmi Akintimehin and one of the angry passengers lamented the sleepless night they had in accessing the ticket, the failure of officials of Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC to address them on why they were denied entry to the train as well as the cost of their transportation from the city the train station.

The train passengers said rather than bearing another transport fare to Iwo road to board a Lagos vehicle they had been made to wait till 4 p.m. when another train billed to arrive by 11 o’clock this morning will depart for Lagos.

Efforts to reach the Regional manager of the Nigeria Railway Corporation were unsuccessful as officials at the station said she would be expected at the station this morning.
