Workers in Oyo State have resumed after the New Year celebrations. 

Radio Nigeria correspondent who visited Agodi and federal secretariats reports that workers were seeing at their duty posts. 

In an interview, some of the workers who spoke with Radio Nigeria thanked God for sparing their lives to witness the New Year.

Mr Amos Olusegun and Mrs Kikelomo Aiyedun urged the federal government to implement a realistic new national minimum wage as early as possible to cushion the effect of subsidy removal and economic realities.

Mr Oluwuyi Adeoye lauded the Oyo State government for the prompt payment of salary and 13th-month salary urging Governor Seyi Makinde’s government to continue to prioritise workers’ welfare as the New Year begins. 

Radio Nigeria reports that some workers also engage in praise worship and prayers to begin the New Year. 

The federal government had declared January 1st 2024 as a public holiday to mark the New Year celebration.
