A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Ejigbo Osun state and a US based lecturer, Dr. Richard Adeoriokin has allegedly been shot dead in his home town by a local security guard.

The incident occurred between 8:00 and 8:30 pm on Saturday, along Inisha Road of Ejigbo, following the conclusion of a public function attended by Professor Adeoriokin, his political associates, and the son of Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oyeyode Oyesosin. 

One of his aides Mr Afeez Lawal who confirmed the incident said his boss was invited by the King’s son, Prince Eniola Oyeyode to his house,

after the function and was to be honoured with gunshot when he was hit with the bullet on his leg. 

Mr Lawal explained further that the deceased was later rushed to a nearby private hospital where he was referred to Osogbo where he eventually gave up.

Dr. Richard Adeoriokin was a lecturer at prairie View A&M University in Houston, Texas before his death.

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has ordered a full investigation Into the death of the deceased.

Governor Adeleke called on the family and residents of Ejigbo not to take laws into their hands over the ugly incident.
