On the occasion of this year’s World Radio Day, professionals in the industry have been urged to take advantage of the uniqueness of Radio broadcasting to propagate the revival of enduring peace and social integration, known among Africans. 

A Veteran Radio Broadcaster and Former Deputy General Manager, Programmes with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, OGBC, Mr Busayo Olaifa gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Abeokuta. 

Mr Olaifa said it was necessary for key players in the sector to put forth their best efforts during this era of globalization, with a view to highlighting values in African culture and tradition in the overall interest of the society.

Other ardent listeners, including a village Head, Chief Akeem Talabi and Mrs Omolara Ayedun acknowledged the pivotal role of radio in educating, informing and entertaining the populace and encouraged broadcasters to live up to expectations as agents of change in society.

Every February 13th marks World Radio Day and the theme for this year’s celebration is “Radio: A century informing, entertaining and educating.”
