By Olawale Asake

Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu has commiserated with the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan-in-Council, immediate family and the indigenes of Ibadanland on the passage of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who joined his ancestors on Thursday.

The Director-General in a statement on his behalf by the Director of the Agency in Oyo State, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan noted that Oba Lekan Balogun was an embodiment of the Yoruba Omoluabi concept which he demonstrated during his reign as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Mallam Issa-Onilu described the late Olubadan as an accessible and accommodating monarch who encouraged peaceful co-existence among all the residents of Ibadan.

He remembered with nostalgia the Oba Balogun’s warm disposition when he received him while on a working visit to the state in February this year when the Kabiyesi gave progressive advice towards National Development.

He prayed to God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun was buried on Friday in his ancestral family home, Ali-Iwo, Ibadan according to Islamic rites.
