Muslims faithful have been enjoined to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness as well as to let the act of kindness reflect in their lives during and after the month of Ramadan.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the admonition on Tuesday while speaking at a special iftar organised for the League of Imams and Alfas by the state government held at the presidential lodge, Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun described the month of Ramadan as a very significant period for all Muslims across the world, adding that it behoves the people at the moment to reflect on the virtues of love and tolerance following the teachings of the Holy month to ensure a better society

He informed that the current administration was doing everything possible to ameliorate the suffering of the people as the current economic challenges biting harder, stating that a committee would soon be set up to ensure that the state government-owned rice is sold at 50 per cent discounted market price to all civil servants across the state while the elderly people, poor and vulnerable would be given free of charge

Urging Nigerians to continue to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration, the state helmsman noted that the various policies put in place by the government at the centre were now yielding positive results as the local currency was becoming stronger against the foreign currency daily

Earlier, the state’s Secretary General, League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Tajudeen Adewunmi, appreciated the various interventions of the governor, particularly to the Muslims, and described it as a welcome development.

The four imams from the four divisions of the state, thereafter, prayed for the growth and development of Ogun state and nation in general.
