Provide emotional support when necessary – Police

Police have encouraged residents of Ogun state to give necessary support and seek experts’ assistance for their family members whose relatives or loved ones required emotional support.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu stated this in a statement while reacting to the death of a 49 year old woman, Mrs Idowu Victoria who allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on the ceiling fan inside her room in Ibafo area of the state.

Mr Alamutu who spoke through the command’s spokesperson, Omotola Odutola said the son of the deceased Idowu Qudus had reported the incident at Ibafo Divisional Police officers.

Idowu Qudus told the policemen that he had met his mother hung on the ceiling fan when returned from the Church.

Mr Alamutu who noted that there was no suicide note found at the scene when officers arrived the place described suicide as unlawful act, noting that, sufferers of mental health needed more support from their family to prevent fatality.
