Family, Friends, Colleagues Eulogise Former UI VC

Reactions have continued to trail the death of Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, UI. who passed on at the age of 90.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Professor Oyesoji Aremu said, Late Ayo Banjo was not only a legend, an administrator but a peace maker who contributed to the development of the University community and Nigeria at large.
Speaking on the life of their father, the first Son of Late Ayo Banjo, Mr Ayotunde Banjo and his grandson, Gbenga Adeogun said, their Patriarch was a rare breed who would be missed for the exemplary life he lived.

Mr Banjo and Adeogun maintained that they were challenged by the approach with which their father handled his career, saying it had helped them in achieving more in their chosen careers.

Late Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo was promoted Professor of English Language, University of Ibadan in 1975, Dean of Arts between 1977 and 1979.

Late Ayo Banjo who was a Professor of English Language, University of Ibadan was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University between 1984 and 1991, which made him the longest serving Vice Chancellor of the Premier University.

He was also Appointed Pro-Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt, between 2000 and 2004, University of Ilorin 2005 and 2007 and lately Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.

Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo celebrated 90th Birthday on the 2nd of this Month.
