The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested 675 drug offenders in Ogun State this year, out of which 221 persons have been convicted by the courts of law, while other cases are at various stages of prosecution.
Ogun State Commander of the Agency, Mr Tijani Rabe made this known to journalists in Abeokuta while highlighting the achievements of the Command for 2024.
The NDLEA State Commander also pointed out that 9.7 tons of hard drugs with more than 537 litres of liquid-based illicit substances were also seized by the Command during the period under review.
Mr Rabe equally disclosed the destruction of 6 hectares of cannabis and notable arrests recorded through the launch of a special intervention, tagged “operation closed gate” carried out at the state entry points to check the activities of drugs merchants and syndicates.
He acknowledged the support of sister security agencies, the residents and other partners in the ongoing battle against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, promising that the command would sustain its public awareness campaigns to free the state from the scourge of illicit drugs.
