Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, says it will continue to partner with private individuals to support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s education policies.

OSHA speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun gave the assurance while playing host to The Odunayo Olagbaju MISTY Memorial Foundation at an event held at the Parliamentary Complex in Osogbo.

Prince Egbedun represented by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Akinyode Oyewusi described the late Odunayo Olagbaju as an individual of repute who had made an indelible imprint during his lifetime.

The speaker said, “Please continue the good work, May God bless you more and Osun State House of Assembly will continue to give the required support”.

While emphasizing that effective governance should be about service to humanity, the speaker lauded the distribution of key textbooks to students in the three selected secondary schools in Osun State, by the foundation.

Also in separate remarks, the Osun State Commissioner for Education, Mr Sunday Eluwole, the Chairman OSHA Committee on Education, Alhaji Sikiru Bajepade and a member representing Ife Central State Constituency, Mr. Abiola Awoyeye commended Mrs Odunayo Olagbaju for sustaining the legacy of her late husband and urged the foundation not to relent in its efforts at boosting the education sector.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Mrs Oluranti Odunayo-Olagbaju described her husband as an individual who identified with the oppressed strata of the society, workers, students, labour unions, community associations, market men and women.

Mrs Odunayo-Olagbaju noted, “In the last two decades, we have embarked on annual public lectures, engaging adult minds in robust debates that tend to answer critical issues on good governance, enhancement of democratic culture, political rights, societal ethics and values among several other building blocks for nationhood”.

She stressed that to complement the donation of basic science textbooks, three public secondary schools in three major zones would be selected as pilot phase for e-library facilities, to enable students to have access to unlimited reading materials in science subjects.

Present at the event were, Mr Lekan Oyediran, Mrs Olufunke Oluyoung from Odunayo Olagbaju Misty Memorial Foundation and some legislators.

It would be recalled that the late Odunayo Olagbaju was assassinated by his political foes on 20th December 2001 and the main building of the Osun State House of Assembly Complex was renamed, by the Osun State Government in honour of the former lawmaker who represented Ife Central State Constituency during his lifetime.
