A resident of Bodija Estate, Ibadan, Mr Badmus Oyeleke, has called on the government not to neglect the victims of the tragic explosion that occurred in the community on January 16, 2024.
Speaking during the Bodija Estate Explosion Remembrance Jumaat Service held at the Bodija Housing Estate and Environs Mosque, Mr Oyeleke recalled with grief how devastating the incident was and emphasized the need for continued support for those affected.
Another resident, Mr Gbenga Oyetola, urged the government to take a more proactive stance on security issues, stressing the importance of punishing those responsible for the explosion to deter future incidents.
The Chief Imam of the Mosque, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Afuye, also called on Nigerians to remain security-conscious and promptly report suspicious activities to security personnel to safeguard lives and property.
During the service, he prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and extended condolences to their families.
The explosion, which occurred at Dejo Oyelese Close, Adeyi Avenue, claimed three lives, with several residents injured, leaving the community in mourning and calling for justice and improved security measures.
