Friends and families of Late Alhaji Olayiwola Lawal were present at a get together held for the erudite journalist who died on the 13th of December, 2024.
Also present were some active and retired staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station.
In an interview, the former Assistant Director News and Current affairs department of FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Femi Oladipo described late Lawal as a seasoned media professional whose voice in news report was a trade mark on the network belt of Radio Nigeria.
The son of Late Olayiwola Lawal, Mr Abeeb Lawal, and one of his daughters, Mrs Olubukola Enimola, a Manager Programmes at Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station ,described their father as a unique family man, gentle but disciplined who strived to ensure his children attain greatness.
The wife of the deceased, Mrs Mary Lawal, who was emotional while speaking with Radio Nigeria said her husband was her bosom friend whose vacuum would be hard to fill.
Alhaji Olayiwola Lawal before retirement, served as Radio Nigeria correspondent covering Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states in the North West and also worked on the foreign desk and as a diplomatic correspondent of Radio Nigeria Network , Abuja.
Alhaji Olayiwola Lawal died at the age of 68 during a brief illness.
