Aleshinloye Fire: Police Commissioner Calls for Increased Investment in Safety Equipment

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Johnson Adenola, has stressed the increased investment in fire safety equipment and regular training programs for traders to put an end to recurrent fire incidents.

Mr Adenola made the call during a meeting at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, held with traders from Aleshinloye Market to address the persistent issue of fire outbreaks was attended by traders and senior police officers.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Adewale Osifeso, explained that the meeting was aimed at identifying the root causes of the fire and developing strategies to prevent future occurrences.

Mr Osifeso highlighted improper storage of combustible materials and irregular inspections of electrical items as key factors contributing to the frequent fire outbreaks.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of proactive measures, including enhanced fire safety infrastructure and continuous education for traders, to mitigate the risks and ensure the safety of lives and property in the market.
