Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has promised that his administration would continue to create platforms for youths in the state to address their needs and fulfill their dreams.
He said this at the 2025 Oyo Youth Summit held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
Governor Makinde who called for functional education and entrepreneurship in the country noted that quality education has greatly positioned some countries including Finland above its contemporaries, thus, investing massively in the sector would help to unlock the nation’s wealth.
Governor Makinde also advised Youths to be productive, innovative and embrace entrepreneurship as tools to achieve their dreams and move the country forward.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke said the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has always demonstrated unwavering commitments to the welfare and development of the youth in the state through policies and programmes to unlock their potentials.
Miss Adegoke urged the youths to take the ownership of available potentials being created by the present administration through proactive, innovations as well as determination to make a positive impact in the communities across the state.
In her keynote address, the Group Managing Director of Bovas Group, Dr Victoria Samson tasked the youths to have a positive mindset on their desires by venturing into meaningful activities.
Dr Samson appealed to the policy makers in the country to always create a conducive environment for them to thrive in all their legitimate dealings.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende reminded the youth that their destiny is in their hands and their potentials can be achieved through being bold, courageous and steadfastness.
Mr Ogunlende used the occasion to donate a laptop computer to a female youth, Miss Damilola Aremu who was in a quest to unlock her potential by becoming a data scientist to achieve her dreams.
Two participants at the summit, Miss Ayomide Aremu and Simeon Ibekwe while describing the summit as worthwhile appealed to the political leaders and the society to see their potential and tap it to develop the country
