Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun eulogised the late Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayodeji Adebanjo, as a towering figure whose lifelong fight for justice, democracy, and human dignity will inspire generations.

Speaking on Saturday at the funeral service in St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Isanya-Ogbo, Governor Abiodun hailed the elder statesman’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s political evolution—from colonial rule to modern democracy.

He emphasised Pa Adebanjo’s unwavering commitment to Yoruba unity and socio-political rights, calling him a “revered defender” of the people.

He urged Nigerians to emulate Adebanjo’s legacy of integrity, service, and faith, declaring, “He was a man of unwavering principle who worked tirelessly for justice, fairness, and progress.”

In his sermon, Bishop of Remo Anglican Diocese, Most Reverend Olusina Fape, charged leaders to embrace humility and accountability.

Preaching from John 28:3738 on, “The Glory of a Purposeful Life,” Most. Rev. Fape stressed that every individual has a divine mission.

Leaders must serve with integrity, knowing they will answer to God,” he warned.

The ceremony drew dignitaries and mourners, united in celebrating a life of purpose and resistance.
