Gov. Adeleke Showers Accolades on Teachers

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has described teachers as the bedrock of civilisation, emphasising his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.

Addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, who paid a courtesy visit to his office, the Governor reassured them that his government was doing everything possible to improve the working conditions as well as the learning environment in schools.

Governor Adeleke appreciated their support for his administration since 2022 he assumed office, noting that their cooperation had been instrumental to the progress achieved so far.

Highlighting a recent success, the Governor praised the NUT for Osun’s remarkable improvement in national examination rankings, rising from 33rd position in 2022 to 7th in the latest results.

He commended their dedication and assured them that their concerns would be addressed promptly, as he directed the Commissioner for Education and the Head of Service to act on the teachers’ requests and reaffirmed that their welfare remains a top priority for his administration.

Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Osun State Wing, Mr Babalola Isaac Babatunde, had applauded the Governor for numerous achievements recorded within a short period in office and acknowledged the positive impact of his leadership in the education sector.

Mr Babatunde also presented a list of urgent requests to the governor, including the provision of a serviceable bus, prompt issuance of appointment letters to successful teacher applicants, and the immediate recruitment of more teachers, especially in rural areas facing staff shortages.

He assured the governor of their continued support and prayers.
