Barakat Schools Explore Radio Nigeria Ibadan

By Fasilat Lawal

Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN has been commended for maintaining its flagship status in the nation’s broadcast industry.

One of teachers of Barakat Nursery and Primary School,  Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, Mrs  Rahmat Adunola gave the commendation when she and some other teachers led pupils of the school on excursion to the Ibadan Zonal Station of Radio Nigeria.

Mrs Adunola said Radio Nigeria disseminated factual information, educative contents and promote peace in the society.

Mrs Adunola explained that the school chose Radio Nigeria to broaden the knowledge the pupils on how news content and educative programmes were packaged and disseminated to the public.

“Federal Radio Stations cannot be compared to other stations because of its factual news dissemination. Our  pupils always listen to radio but they have no knowledge of how people talk on radio.Bringing  them for an excursion would expose them to know how people communicate on radio”.

Mrs Adunola believed the knowledge acquired by the pupils during the visit would further sharpen their minds for future career choice.

The  teacher urged other proprietors of other schools to expose their pupils to other educative activities beyond the schools for wider knowledge.

Some of the pupils who spoke with Radio Nigeria  said their visit  afforded them the opportunity to understand how the media gathered and disseminated information to their audience. “

We learnt that there is an audio player in the studio and also a library where books are kept.We also visited the live studio where  news is being  broadcast on air”. We were also briefed about Radio Nigeria Fm stations in the south West states”We had fun, it was  amazing”

The pupils were conducted round some facilities in the Broadcasting House, including: Newsroom, Recording and Live studios, Controll room  and the Library.
