Ibadan Property Owners Protest against Proposed Road Expansion

Some property owners from six local government areas of Ibadan on Tuesday, staged a peaceful protest at the Oyo State Secretariat, urging the government to reconsider the proposed expansion of Ibadan Circular Road corridor beyond the approved 150 meters.

The protesters, drawn from Akinyele, Oluyole, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ona-Ara and Ido Local Government Areas, carried placards with inscriptions “We are begging Governor Makinde,” We are appealing to the state government to halt the planned expansion.

The Coordinator and Secretary of the Ibadan Circular Road Communities Representatives, Niyi Fasoye, appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to honour his 2024 promise that no houses would be demolished.

One of the protesters, a landlady, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Fijabi, who said the road was a good development, enjoined Governor Makinde to execute the project within the original boundaries.
