Osun state government has reiterated its commitments towards reviving Adire industry through government initiative aimed at promoting the fabric as a source of economic growth and cultural heritage.
The Secretary to the State Government, Chief Teslim Igbalaye stated this while addressing a news conference to herald the Adire Osun Festival 2025 slated for December.
Chief Igbalaye said the annual event is aimed at promoting cultural and economic values of the state.
He stressed that the festival would showcase the unique Adire textile, a symbol of Osun history and creativity.
Chief Igbalaye states “Adire Osun Festival 2025 will feature street show of various Colourful Adire Fabrics, with a view to promoting Osun’s rich culture and traditions as well as reclaim Osun and Osogbo’s historical place as the source of Aro and Adire”.
“We are excited to transform Osun State into an entertainment hub of creativity and culture” He added.
Earlier, the Chairman, Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniji, described the Adire of Osun as an instrument of identity, a potential engine of jobs, and a promise to the next generation that their heritage would be a foundation for their future.
Mr. Adeniji explained that, Adire Osun Festival, 2025 with the themed; “Creating wealth, Empowering Youths” would recognize a living archive, a powerful engine of identity, creativity, and economic hope.
