Oyo NUJ Chairmanship Hopeful Promises Better Welfare

As campaigns for the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council election intensify, Chairmanship aspirant of the Divine Mandate Team, Mr Raji Adebayo, has pledged to improve members’ welfare if elected.

Mr Adebayo made the commitment during a campaign visit to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Ibadan Zonal Station at the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

He assured members of the NUJ Chapel in the station that his administration would ensure equal treatment for all journalists without bias.

The chairmanship aspirant also promised to prioritise infrastructure by renovating the abandoned Health Centre Facility and providing modern facilities at the NUJ Oyo State Council Secretariat in Iyaganku, Ibadan, to enhance healthcare services for union members.

In his remarks, a past Chairman, NUJ Oyo State Council, and Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Adewumi Faniran, emphasised that member welfare remains central to the union’s constitution.

He urged Mr Adebayo to remain committed to his promises if elected.

Mr Faniran also advised the Divine Mandate Team to abide by the union’s campaign rules, refrain from hate speech and avoid actions capable of causing disaffection among contestants, urging them to uphold the constitution at all times.

Earlier, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan, who encouraged them to demonstrate humility in victory and embrace servant leadership while fulfilling all campaign promises.

Among the contestants is a staff member of the FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Moses Morenikeji, who is vying for the position of Treasurer.

The NUJ election holds on December 9, 2025.
