The Chief Executive Officer, Thewhy Consulting, Lagos State, Mr Adewale Kehinde, has urged journalists to start planning for retirement immediately instead of waiting until the end of their careers.
Delivering a lecture titled “Post-Retirement for Journalists: Planning a Financial Future” at the 2025 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel, Mr Kehinde warned that retirement should not signal the end of financial stability.
He encouraged journalists to diversify their income while still in active service and create multiple revenue streams to secure their future.











The tax consultant also advised journalists to maintain a disciplined budget and adopt a simple, frugal lifestyle to avoid falling into debt after retirement.
He further urged members of NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel to cultivate healthy habits and embrace a positive lifestyle for long, productive lives.
In his remarks, Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Mr Ademola Ige, praised the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for significantly improving pension payments for retired local government workers.
The Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan, commended the strong working relationship between NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel and management, noting that it had contributed to the station’s steady growth.
Chairman, NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel, Mr Oluwakayode Banjo, welcomed participants and highlighted the rapid growth of the chapel’s Press Week in its third edition.
He encouraged members to take retirement planning seriously.
The event featured the presentation of an Award of Excellence to the CEO of Thewhy Consulting and the unveiling of a book presented by Mr Ademola Ige to NUJ, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel.
Dignitaries at the event included the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Chapter, Dr Olusegun Abatan, represented by General Manager, Pensioners FM, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu; the Management of News and Current Affairs Department led by Mr Adewumi Faniran; and a Deputy Director, Programmes, Mr Steven Agbaje.
