NFWP-SU: Delegates in Ogun for Implementation Support Mission

By Oluwatoyin Adegoke

Delegates from nine states of the federation are in Ogun State to understudy implementation model under the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up, NFWP-SU  following the State’s record-setting achievements in grassroots women empowerment.

The visiting delegates from Ekiti, Abia, Kwara, Kogi, Delta, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Anambra and Ondo States are participating in an implementation support mission for Southern States in Abeokuta, towards sharing best practices and strengthening programme delivery.

Addressing the delegates, the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief  Adijat Adeleye, said the State had formed 1,613 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) under the NFWP-SU, positioning Ogun as a national reference point for inclusive women-focused development.

Chief Adeleye attributed the achievement to the sustained commitment of the state Government and strong support of community leaders, traditional rulers and market groups.

He noted that Women Affinity Groups served as the backbone of the project at the grassroots.

The Commissioner explained that while the Nigeria for Women Project began in 2018, the present administration strengthened its impact through the Scale-Up phase, adding that Ogun State remained the only participating state to exceed the benchmark of 1,000 affinity groups, with figures now approaching 1,700.

The State Project Coordinator, Mrs. Bolanle Fadairo, said the Scale-Up Project, which commenced in September 2025, had recorded 1,613 affinity groups so far, noting that the study visit would further sharpen implementation and deepen women empowerment outcomes across communities.
