Oyo Tightens Security, Targets Vehicles without Number Plates

By Iyabo Adebisi

The Oyo State Government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to motorists who have failed to comply with number plate regulations, warning that enforcement will commence immediately after the deadline.

The warning came at a press briefing held at the State Command, Eleyele, after a joint Security Show of Force among Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Oyo States from Lagos to Moniya end of Oyo State.

Special Adviser on Security Trust Fund to the Oyo State Governor, CP Fatai Owoseni retired, said the show of force was designed to reinforce the South-West’s shared commitment to regional security and restore public confidence in existing security measures.

CP Owoseni, while calling citizens to remain lawful in their dealings, said motorists with obscure or without plate numbers would henceforth be arrested as a measure to pin down criminals and criminal tendencies within the next 7 days.

The joint show of force followed resolutions reached at a recent South-West security summit held in Ogun State by governors of the region.
