Ekiti State has recorded its first rainfall of the year 2026.
The rain, which lasted for about an hour, was witnessed in towns such as Ifaki and Aramoko Ekiti, while light showers were also recorded in Ado Ekiti, Iworoko Ekiti and some other parts of the state.
Some residents who spoke on the development described the early rainfall as a positive sign, expressing optimism that the new year would be prosperous.
Others said the rain brought relief from the intense heat currently being experienced across the state.
Residents, however, expressed hope that the rainfall would continue in the coming weeks to support farming activities and improve agricultural productivity across Ekiti State.
