Festivities End as Work Resumes on Monday

By Taiwo Akinola

Following the public holiday declared by government, in view of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, business activities are gradually picking up in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

As of Friday, January 2, there was noticeable movement across the city as families and friends who had traveled for the festive period began returning to their respective bases. Transport hubs recorded moderate activity, while some markets and offices operated at skeletal levels.

Findings revealed that, many residents are taking advantage of the remaining days of the holiday to conclude visits and prepare for the resumption of normal routines.

Full business activities are expected to resume on Monday, when schools, government offices, and other establishments reopen after the holiday break.

The gradual return to work is typical of the post-festive period, as households adjust from celebration to productivity, signaling a return to normal economic life in the state capital.
